How we know.
We burn test candles in documented rooms, recording room dimensions and conditions alongside the exact candle configuration. Across repeated burns we record duration, starting and ending weight, calculated burn rate, flame and wick behavior, melt-pool development, vessel behavior, observed soot or smoke, and hot throw as the candle develops.
These records are not interchangeable. A short burn, a half-vessel screen, or a converted test candle can guide development, but cannot establish the total life or room performance of a finished 227 g production candle. A combined-room result cannot be attributed to one composition. A material or configuration change calls for new validation.
We do not score cold throw in this testing program. Missing observations remain marked as missing rather than converted into a favorable result. The documented baseline room is 13 × 12 × 11 feet; actual historical tests also used other rooms and cure ages, which are identified with each record.
