Plain definitions for the language used across the system.

ACTIVE

A composition admitted to the current system. Availability is shown separately.

An element of openness: transparent materials, lift and space. AIR does not necessarily mean aquatic or citrus.

The middle point on the throw scale: a steady background that registers through a typical room.

What is perceived from an unlit candle. It can differ from the scent released while burning.

A scent identity expressed through perceived elemental proportion.

How readily scent moves through air and becomes perceptible around the room.

One of three perceptual families used by OBJECT / SYSTEM: WOOD, FLORAL or AIR.

The broadest relative throw: designed to register across larger or more open space.

Petal, stem and botanical lift without requiring sweetness, powder or perfume weight.

The scent perceived while the candle burns and the melt pool is established.

The closest relative throw: most noticeable near the candle or within a smaller zone.

The liquid wax formed around the wick while burning. Its development affects scent release.

A composition that brings more than one perceived element into relationship.

A scent object within the system.

One symbol unit. Each composition uses exactly three parts.

The relationship shown by the three symbols. Repetition means greater perceived emphasis; it is not a formula percentage.

A composition with one perceived elemental identity, shown by three repeated symbols. This does not mean a single ingredient.

The structure used to classify every object: element, proportion and presence.

The relative area in which a burning candle is typically perceived. Room volume, airflow and burn conditions change it.

A system position without an admitted object.

Dry, resinous or structural character: grain, pencil shaving, cedar, sandalwood and related effects.
